Netflix and Sony entered into a multi-year deal in which the former received exclusive rights to stream the films of the latter in the United States.
Typically, such a “window” takes about 18 months after the film distribution and release on media. The deal is effective from 2023, including “Morbius”, sequel Spider-Man: Through the Universes, film adaptation Uncharted etc. The same goes for new parts. Spiderman after the upcoming triquel.
In addition, under the agreement, Netflix will be able to acquire licenses to rent virtually any film from the Sony / Columbia library, of which, as you might guess, there is a huge number. Since 2014, a similar deal has already been concluded between the parties, but then it concerned only animation.
In addition, Netflix will be one of the investors in individual Sony films, which may (but not necessarily) miss a movie release.
