Developers from Deep silver, Deep silver volition and Koch media They arranged a closed stream for the press, at which they announced, showed and spoke in detail about the updated version Saints Row: The Third Remastered for PC, Ps4 and Xbox one. I visited the broadcast and I hasten to share my impressions.
The new release is not just a port, but a full-fledged remaster of the popular game of 2011 with a noticeable improvement in graphics. Artists redrawn about 4,000 assets in order to make the game (and all the add-ons that will be included) look the best on modern systems.
From what I noticed, the rendering range was noticeably raised, the objects in the frame became more detailed, and the textures became less flat. But the main thing is the new global lighting, which makes solar effects much more realistic, and landscapes – especially at sunset – atmospheric.
At night, the graphics are not so different from the original version, except for resolution and improved textures, but you can see that the neon signs have become prettier.
Other effects have also been improved. We were shown close shots from a tank, where now instead of a smeared orange mug, separate sparks and a detailed animated fire appeared.
The work that was carried out on the main plot characters is visible – the models were completely redrawn. True, it seemed to me that the animation was not properly adapted to the standards of 2023 and looks outdated. And it is unfortunate that the NPCs seem to have remained low-poly.
Artists redrawn transport and weapons. New models of guns have more polygons and realistic textures that physically correctly respond to light.
The publisher chose this particular part, since the trikvel has the largest and most active community of fans. The developers are very proud of how well the players received the original game.
Splitskrin-cooperative, most likely, will not be, as well as the Horde regime. But licensed music remains, as does the original voice acting.
Russian-American-Polish studio is responsible for the remaster Spera soft. According to the developers, the most difficult was to make a pretty global coverage. The game runs in 30 FPS mode on the Xbox One and PS4.
Saints Row: The Third Remastered will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on May 22, 2023.
