The cult street racing simulator Need for Speed: Underground from Electronic Arts showed next-level graphics and surprised fans.
The popular racing game Need for Speed: Underground received a new version of the Redux modification, Gamebomb.ru reports. Now the iconic EA street competition simulator has acquired support for the latest graphics technologies, including real-time ray tracing (ray tracing). This allows NFSU to implement the latest lighting and reflection systems. Each car in real time creates a reflection of the world. The same applies to puddles on the roads. Fans were completely delighted, as the already outdated game got a modern look.
Initially, the Need for Speed: Underground Redux mod was released in 2017, Gamebomb.ru reports. It was created by a developer with the nickname AMTxDRxRL. He updated the lighting system, added over 300 high-resolution textures, added road reflections, added ReShade. He worked on the project for 6 months. Now a developer with the nickname Stre1itzia has improved this project by adding ray tracing support, a new version of ReShade and some other technologies.
From the configuration of his PC, the developer revealed only the video card – the GeForce GTX 1060 with 3 gigabytes of memory. At the same time, the new version of the mod produced 3 times lower performance than the 2017 version. On his system, the author managed to achieve only 25 frames per second.
Need for Speed: Underground was released in 2003 on the Xbox, PS2 and PC. The game gained cult status due to the wide variety of types of races and an advanced system for tuning cars and their appearance. A sequel came out a year later Need for Speed: Underground 2who received even more cult status and an open world.
