Musical elements continue to penetrate all genres – even into sports dramas. “Ice 2”- a direct sequel to the original, but built in such a way that the first part can not be watched.
The plot of the picture tells about the family life of the skater Nadezhda (Tarasova) and hockey player Alexander (Petrov). The couple is waiting for the first-born, but the doctor warns the heroine that due to an old injury, childbirth can pass with serious complications. Sasha dreams of a baby, so Nadia does not say anything to her husband and refuses abortion. As a result, Sasha is left alone with her newborn daughter …
The film tells about the problems of single fathers who are forced to tear between work and raising a child. The main character has to make more than one difficult choice, which changes the usual life, destroying the career of a hockey player.
Over time, the rapidly growing daughter begins to show interest in figure skating, but Sasha is afraid that the girl will go to great sports and be injured. He forbids her to go on the ice, but the child is supported by a former mother’s trainer – Irina Shatalina (Aronova). She sees her huge potential and takes to her school. Because of this, a conflict occurs that leads to the intervention of guardianship authorities.
Now the hero has to put his life in order, prove his worth and return the child home. In turn, the daughter is trying to prove to her father and everyone that she has a great future in sports and she will become a great skater.
The emotional scenes of the film are well-posed, making the audience empathize with the characters. The motivation of the actors is by and large understandable, but the heroine of Aronova still did not have enough elaboration, because of which some of her actions and actions look strange and not entirely justified.
The amount of drama at some points may excessively prevail, but the director is trying to balance the balance by adding good humor and diluting everything with atmospheric music scenes. The jokes turned out to be funny, and the characters sing and dance beautifully, performing popular songs of the past.
Continuing the tradition of the original, in the sequel, in addition to its own soundtrack, adapted versions of songs by popular artists of various generations, like “Beautiful far away” from the movie “Guest from the future”,“Poplar fluff”From Ivanushka International,“Lake of hope“Alla Pugacheva,”Not gonna get us”T.A.T.u,“Samsara”From Basta and so on. The songs are performed by the actors themselves and it turns out great for them.
Together with jokes, these scenes are one of the most striking in the film. They fit the moment well and look spectacular.

“Ice 2”- a pleasant entertaining film with a good plot, good humor, beautiful music scenes and atmospheric moments, which was a little lacking in the elaboration of details. Family drama may not go to everyone, but for the sake of emotions, jokes and beautiful songs, it’s still worth a look.
