Ministry of Communications extended the project “Accessible Internet” until December 31 – review

The Ministry of Communications announced the interim results of the project “Affordable Internet“. As a result, it was decided to continue it for another six months – until December 31. The deputy head of the Russian department Lyudmila Bokova said that the state structure recorded the interest of citizens in the “social” package of operators, and therefore made this decision.

According to the agency, five operators are participating in the project, which provide access to more than 50 thousand unique users every month throughout April and May. During this time, more than 5.5 TB of data was transmitted.

It is alleged that over these two months 63% of users downloaded more than 100 MB of data from free resources. The average access speed was about 8.7 Mbit / s.

Note that the list of “socially significant” sites contains 371 resources – “communication services”, “aggregators of socially significant information”, “national culture and traditions”, “continuing education and advanced training” and others.
