Studio Mojang announced a new initiative called “Save the world with Minecraft“, the essence of which boils down to using the super popular game as a platform to draw the attention of the general public to a wide variety of social and environmental crises.
“Now is a great time to work together to protect the Earth from pollution, climate change and the general decline of many climatic zones. We are going to fight for the planet to make sure that the world we inhabit can continue to be as beautiful and livable as possible.” – said in a statement Helen Chang, the current head of Mojang Studios.
As clear examples of the fight for the environment in the framework of Minecraft Helen Chang brought the project Coral crafters, the appearance of bees in the game with a simulation of their life, as well as the creation of special educational cards, kind of a green city model…
In addition to fighting for the environment, Mojang also plans to actively oppose various forms of social oppression and racial discrimination. To this end, the company has pledged to provide support and funding to organizations that protect oppressed groups and regulate existing conflicts and crises in various forms of their manifestation.
Recall that right now Mojang preparing a major update for Minecraft entitled Caves & cliffs (“Mountains and Rocks“). It promises to be one of the largest in the history of the project.
