Microsoft wanted to buy PlatinumGames in 2019 – review

Portal Founder Thurrott and product insider Microsoft Brad Sams told in a dialogue with analyst Daniel Ahmad that last year the corporation wanted to acquire Platinum games.
It is not known why the deal did not take place, but one of the key factors, according to Ahmad, could be the desire of developers to remain independent. During 2019, they communicated with many companies, but eventually accepted the investment of the Chinese Tencent.

Last year, PlatinumGames had to freeze several small projects in order to find money for larger titles, however, after a deal with Tencent, developers can again return to the creation of small games.

It is noteworthy that at the beginning of the generation of Microsoft and PlatinumGames worked on ScaleboundHowever, in the end, the game was canceled due to creative differences. Rumor had it that the project worked poorly on the Xbox One hardware, and the publisher wanted more networking features.
