According to a new rumor, Microsoft strengthens partnerships with third-party studios to create long-term franchises exclusively on Xbox…
Information came from the senior editor of Windows Central Jez Corden from the latest Xbox Two podcast. During the broadcast, the journalist announced that Microsoft is currently actively involved in cooperation with some major third-party studios. He mentioned that he saw some things that impressed him and suggested that some of the studios involved may eventually be acquired due to the scale of some of the projects being developed…
Corden likened this to what Microsoft did at the start of its journey when it enlisted the studio. Bungie for creating Halohowever, the comparison does not seem very appropriate, given that the company originally bought the studio, and did not work with it as a third party. Perhaps this meant the size of the projects and their long-term viability.
According to him, Microsoft has outlined a kind of 10-year plan, similar to the current work with the French Asobo Studio over Microsoft Flight Simulatorhowever, Corden immediately emphasized that while everything is at an early stage and it is possible that some of the projects will never materialize, recalling Scalebound and Phantom Dust, which never made it to release. In the end, Corden noted that there were even more other games that didn’t make it through prototyping and that we’ve never heard of.
Either way, it looks like Microsoft’s plans for the next-generation Xbox include not only expanding in-house studios to increase the release of their exclusives, but also actively working with third-party partners.
