Media: Google is preparing an analogue of AirDrop for a number of OS

Google for some time working on an analog function Apple airdrop to transfer files between devices. It must be supported on Android and beyond. The novelty is called Nearby share (previously known as Nearby sharing), but now there is new data.
Several commits in the Chrome browser mention support for this functionality, although it has not yet been announced how soon the new product will be released at least in early access. But the fact itself indicates that the function can be cross-platform.

In addition, a Twitter user under the pseudonym @_dinsan shared an image that shows Nearby Share in Chrome OS settings. That is, on branded OS, this feature is already clearly being tested. And in the future, the time will come for desktop systems.
Note that in this way the company will be able to counterbalance the Apple ecosystem and secure a couple of points in the confrontation with the Cupertian corporation.
