Major PS5 Update Announced: Enhanced Memory Management, Patch Preloading, Better Share Play, and More

Sony Interactive Entertainment Announces First Major Firmware Update Playstation 5The update will be released tomorrow and will add many new innovations and improvements to the system

  • Transferring games from PS5 to external USB drives… Will only be used for temporary storage of files.

  • Cross-platform Share Play… PS5 owners will be able to stream the screen while playing the game to their friends using the PlayStation 4, or transfer control to them for remote playback, and vice versa.

  • Join Request Function… Provides quick access to sending invitations to play together, reducing the time it takes to add a user as a friend.
  • Improved Game Base function menu… Added the ability to quickly switch between tabs of parties and friends, as well as set up notifications for each party separately.

  • Quickly mute game chat and adjust the volume of voice channels for individual players in the same chat.
  • Preloading game updates… Allows you to install the latest version of the game before the official release of the update. The feature will require adding support from the developers.
  • Customizable game library… The ability to search and configure display will be added;
  • Screen scaling… An option will appear in the settings menu to zoom in on the screen according to user preference.
  • New prize settings and updated statistics screen… The automatic creation of screenshots or videos when opening a prize can now be configured for individual trophy levels.

  • Lots of new features for the PlayStation App… More features will be added in the coming weeks, including connecting to multiplayer on PlayStation 5 using the app, managing PS5 memory, comparing prize collections with friends, and sorting and filtering products displayed in PlayStation Store.
