According to media reports, Lucy Liu (“Charlie’s Angels”, “Elementary”) stars as the second villainess in the sequel “Shazama!“.
She will play a sister Hesperia by the name Calypso – the main antagonist of the tape, whose party had previously left Helen Mirren (“The Queen”, “Phantom Beauty”). As in the first case, the character does not have one specific basis from the DC comics, but the same Greek god Atlas is the father of Calypso – one of the sources of Shazam’s power.
Previously it was assumed that another sister is playing Rachel Zegler from the new “West Side Story” – perhaps there was some kind of confusion or only three sisters will confront the heroes, not two.
The sequel is again directed by David F. Sandberg (“And the light goes out”), and the premiere is scheduled for November 4, 2023.
