Looking forward to horror from Hideo Kojima on PS5? Japanese mangaka Junji Ito talks about negotiations with Death Stranding author

Famous mangaka Junji Ito can work together with Hideo Kojima on the creation of a horror game. Ito told about this during an interview on Comic-Con 2023.

The Japanese horror mangaka is best known for his original and intimidating work. His best work is considered to be the three-volume Uzumaki, which tells about the obsession of the inhabitants of the city of Kurozu with the idea of a spiral that haunts them everywhere and captures the mind, and subsequently the whole city, without the possibility of getting out anywhere.

In Gyo, the author continued to mock the inhabitants, but in this manga, the curse enveloped not one city, but the whole world, leaving no hope of getting out of the nightmare caused by the revived corpses of fish walking down the street.

“I know Kojima well and we discussed with him a horror game that he could play. He invited me to work on it, but there are no details about it, ”Ito said.

Apparently, the mangaka did not disclose details of his conversation with Kojima, as negotiations are still underway. It is possible that Ito does not want to give hope to fans and reveal the secrets of a game designer yet.

Curiously, Junji Ito had already worked with Kojima on P.T. Producer Guillermo Del Toro noted on his Twitter that the original mangaka was a co-author Silent Hills, the main creators of which were Del Toro and Hideo Kojima. A year later, the project was canceled by Konami.

Hints that the next game by author Hideo Kojima will be horror appeared last year. After Death Stranding was released, the Japanese game designer began making plans for the future and was going to do “something that players have never seen before.”
