Logitech G333 gaming headphones review

Despite the fact that with the development of technology and sound quality, wireless headphones have become more in demand in recent years, wired headsets are still popular, including among people who spend a lot of time on the road. These include, for example, lovers of portable gaming who play both on smartphones and on consoles by type Nintendo Switch or PS Vita… Today we will tell you about the wired gaming headset from the company Logitech – models G333… Its official cost in Russia is 4490 rubles

PACKAGING AND COMPLETE SET

The packaging of the headset is made of thick dark gray cardboard – by analogy with most solutions from this brand.

The front side shows the headset itself, as well as the Logitech logo and the G333 model name in traditional blue. On the other sides, the manufacturer indicated the main features of the device, technical characteristics and visually depicted the complete set. The box opens like a book from right to left, and on the back of the lid, options for connecting to different devices are listed and there are instructions for controlling the remote control.

Directly the headphones themselves are packed in formatted plastic, under which the rest of the items included in the package are hidden. These include: a short 3.5 mm to USB Type-C audio jack adapter cable, a set of ear cushions (small and large: the headphones are equipped with medium ear cushions by default), a zippered travel case made of soft mesh material and safety information and warranty, which is designed for 2 years.

APPEARANCE AND TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Logitech G333 looks quite common for in-ear headphones and is unlikely to surprise anyone with any design details. This model is available in three colors: black, white and purple. A version in black color came to our test.

The headphone housing is made of aluminum, and the wire is used flat, so it does not twist, which means that the likelihood of the headphones getting very tangled in your pocket is extremely low. The place where the wires are separated, unfortunately, does not have the ability to adjust, which not everyone will like.

On the right wire there is a remote control with three buttons. The upper and lower ones are responsible for adjusting the volume, and the button in the middle, highlighted in blue, allows you to start playback or pause a track, as well as switch tracks when you double (next) or triple (previous) press. Also, when used with a smartphone, this button can answer a call.

The silicone ear cushions are of good quality and come in a blue color similar to the lettering on the box. In the white version, the ear pads will be lilac, and in the violet, they will be yellow.

The headset turned out to be very light, since without an adapter it weighs only 19 grams, and with it – 25. Add to this an 8-gram case and, as a result, some 33 grams in your pocket. The length of the wire is approximately 120 cm, and an adapter adds about 10 cm.

Directly under the body of this headset, its main feature is hidden – dual dynamic diffusers with a diameter of 5.8 and 9.2 mm. The first is responsible for reproducing high and middle frequencies, and the second is completely dedicated to low frequencies. The headset has a frequency range of 20 – 20,000 Hz with a sensitivity of about 102 dB at 1 kHz and an impedance of 24 ohms.

The microphone is located on the back of the control panel. It uses a 4 mm electret condenser microphone with a sensitivity of -42 dB at 1 kHz.

CONNECTION, SOUND & MICROPHONE

Logitech G333 headphones do not have wireless interfaces, connection is possible only by wire in two versions: via a 3.5 mm mini-jack and via USB Type-C using the supplied adapter. The second option, by the way, is less preferable, but we will talk about this below.

According to the official information, the headset works with PCs, mobile devices, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo and other wired systems. Using these methods, we were able to connect the G333 not only to a smartphone or PC, but also to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch consoles without any problems.

In terms of sound, we tested the sound in several games on PC (Cyberpunk 2077), PS5 (Demon’s Souls), Xbox Series X (Forza Horizon 4) and Nintendo Switch (Astral Chain). On the first three platforms, we connected directly to the 3.5mm jack, and in the case of the Nintendo Switch, we tried both. The headset offers solid stereo sound in games without distortion.

Demon’s Souls on Playstation 5 with active 3D sound sounds high-quality, offering deep immersion during gameplay. In Forza Horizon 4 on Xbox Series X, I initially had the Windows Sonic codec enabled, which gave slight distortions in the background – this situation was corrected by switching the console settings to stereo without compression. On PC in Cyberpunk 2077, the sound quality was also fine.

However, most of all, when using the G333, I liked the sound in the Astral Chain on the Nintendo Switch with a 3.5 mm connection, where the entire frequency range was heard well with good surround stereo sound.

The volume on all platforms was at a fairly decent level, but only when connected via a mini-jack.

What is worth scolding the novelty is for the USB Type-C adapter. Not only does it cut the volume of the headphones, it also does something with low frequencies. They become shallower and flatter. When connected via an adapter to smartphones, exactly the same situation is observed. And this is really a problem in the adapter, not in the headphones, since we connected the G333 to another adapter from a Huawei smartphone, and there the sound was the same as the direct 3.5 mm connection.

As for the quality of music playback, everything is quite good here. The highs and mids sound just right – clean and distortion-free. Low ones have a pleasant depth and perform well when playing tracks with accents on them, but again, only without a crutch in the form of a complete USB Type-C adapter.

The microphone does its job well both when chatting in Discord or WhatsApp on PC and mobile phone, and during a party on PlayStation 5. The interlocutor can clearly hear you, but there is no noise cancellation, which makes background noises audible to people on the other end wires. For example, the noise of the fans in a nearby PC.

RESULTS

The Logitech G333 leaves mixed feelings after use. On the one hand, they sound good enough for in-ear headphones both during games and while listening to music, and also have a good package with a convenient case for transportation. What doesn’t paint them is a bad adapter, not eye-catching design and a rather high price. But despite the disadvantages, the G333 is well suited for those who cannot live without games, even during a short commute to work or school.
