Like Mass Effect and Destiny, but better? People Can Fly and Square Enix begin talking about their Outriders role-playing action.

Publishing house Square enix and studio People can fly showed the press their new sci-fi thriller from a third person with elements of role-playing game Outriders. In the coming months, developers will continue to consistently share new details about the project.

Today, they decided to talk about some fundamental aspects of the gameplay, about filling the world, initial locations and opponents that you will encounter. We have collected all the most interesting for you and will release it in three separate materials. This will focus on the world, interface and system to increase the complexity of the game.

Outriders is a dynamic mix of role-playing and third-person action with strong narrative elements and the possibility of cooperative passing. The events of the project take place on the planet Enoch, which humanity was desperately trying to colonize. A series of mysterious and dangerous events crossed out these plans, and now the colonists are fighting every day for their survival.

One of the locations you visit at Outriders is First City. As the name implies, these are the ruins of the first human colony on the planet. One of the sources of energy that fed the colony, due to the anomaly, ceased to function properly, and later completely exploded. The subsequent radioactive background instilled fear and panic into the hearts of the colonists, and the First City quickly fell into decay. Today, complete lawlessness is going on there, and the once flourishing place is inhabited exclusively by mutants and bandits trying to survive in deadly dangerous conditions.

The authors of Outriders place a great emphasis on the fact that the entire plot-narrative part is concentrated directly in the game itself. In other words, in order to find out some subtleties of the local universe and its history, you do not have to resort to additional sources of information. It will be enough just to open the corresponding page of the code in the menu and begin acquaintance with its contents.

Outriders user interface can be tweaked. The developers at People Can Fly were well aware that different players have different preferences regarding the information that is displayed on the screen. So, you can adjust almost all aspects of the interface: skill icons, damage, experience bar and more. That is, strips annoying many and flying numbers can be hidden if desired.

Another interesting feature of the new project is the smart in-game complexity system.. The whole idea was based on the idea according to which players will encounter optimal difficulties, which are affected by a whole list of factors.

Firstly, the number of players in your team plays a significant role. The more users are in one session, the more difficult the opponents. And vice versa. But the principle of “State of the World”, which has 15 gradations, sounds much more curious. The more effective you play (kill more opponents, die a little in battles), the higher the value of “State of the world” rises. Each level raised makes opponents stronger and more dangerous, but in return you begin to receive exclusive rewards and access to especially powerful items, including those exceeding the experience of your own hero. Thus, you can gradually go through the game, develop, build up power and constantly face new dangers. It is noteworthy that if the current “State of the World” does not suit you, you can always manually “roll back” to a more convenient value and comfortably continue your adventure on it.

“We are working on the game that we always wanted to create. Everyone in the PCF team is gamers, and everyone loves shooters. We love the shooters in our genes, and we have been creating them for several decades. But, in addition, we love role-playing games.” “, Said Bartek Kmita, Outriders Creative Director at People Can Fly. “We always wanted to play a serious role-playing game with an epic plot, with a flexible system that allows you to create many interesting characters. But, in addition, we wanted to create a game with a complex, skill-based real-time intense battle system. And when we had the opportunity to create such a game, we felt that our dream came true
