One of the hottest reasons for heated discussions around Cyberpunk 2077 the question of the so-called “cut“content. The formal announcement of the role-playing game took place back in 2013, but it was only in 2018 that they began to talk about the development in its current form.
Since “Cyberpunk“got a number of gameplay demos, dozens of screenshots, hundreds of interviews, various marketing materials and pre-release information. Unfortunately, some of the developers from CD Projekt RED managed to show in the last 24 months, before the final assembly Cyberpunk 2077 never gets there. For instance, the game has lost the ability to travel by metro, customize the appearance of your vehicle and move along vertical surfaces…
Getting ready for launch, about all the removed features Cyberpunk 2077 decided to speak Miles Toast, senior level designer CD Projekt RED, thus trying to dispel the prevailing doubts among some of the users.
“We never planned to add two-handed shooting to the game. I’m not sure what else to add here, other than suggesting that you wait for reviews from people you trust, and only then buy the game. There are no games that will appeal to absolutely everyone And no one is forcing you to rush to the store right on the day of release, we at CDPR don’t want to leave you disappointed at all. But shaving all this into account, let’s go through the cut content again.
Removing and revising certain elements is a completely normal workflow. With our game, this becomes even more evident because we happily showed the community a demo from 2018. Think for yourself. Then the game was separated from the release by two whole years. Certain things will of course be changed or adjusted. It goes without saying that during this period really cool ideas came to us, which in the end simply did not find a place for themselves next to other mechanics or features.
Similarly, The Witcher 3 lost a lot of things, but ultimately the game only benefited from this. I understand your frustration, especially considering that you are deprived of the general context of the development process. Therefore, all that remains for me is to ask you to trust us.
Take a look at your favorite projects. Take my word for it, content was also cut out of them, but that doesn’t stop you from loving them. Moreover, it is possible that you love them for this very reason, and not in spite of them. Ultimately, the key is how fun the game is, and we do our best to make it look its best for you. Sometimes you have to make difficult decisions for the good, which you, unfortunately, have witnessed, “explains Miles Toast.
Later, the developer also added that despite all the above, Cyberpunk 2077 literally replete with content, and players should definitely be satisfied…
“If you are worried about filling the game, you shouldn’t. We are very bad at evaluating our projects, so now we do not. I remember when we assumed that absolutely everything in The Witcher 3 could be seen in literally 100 hours.
