Studio Infinity ward has released a patch for PS4, Xbox One and PC to fix bugs with displaying weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzonethat have been haunting gamers since the start of season 5. But the release of the update can hardly be called smooth, since the owners of Xbox One were offered to download as much 66.3 GB (!!)…
By the way, such volumes are not observed on PlayStation 4 and PC. For the above platforms, you must download a total of no more than 2 GB. So where did this huge difference come from? Comments followed from the developers at Infinity Ward:
“Due to an unforeseen bug in the Microsoft patching process, Xbox owners are required to re-download the files they already have, but this will not affect the overall size of the game on disk.”
“We are working closely with Microsoft to make future updates smaller.”
Infinity Ward in the case of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone has already been repeatedly criticized for impressive updates and occupied spacewhich reaches 200 GB on PC and consoles.
Xbox One owners were incredibly upset by this situation and they immediately began to write complaints on the thematic forums.
“Unexpected bug? Seriously? You’re making me pump 65GB just a week after I already did it, and” unexpected bug “is all you can tell me? Well thanks Activision, thanks to Microsoft. Not everyone in the world there is Internet at a good speed. Not everyone has it. Even if you live in developed countries and you do not have problems with money “, – wrote one of the users of the game’s subreddit.
“I live in Italy, in a small town in the countryside, and I would be happy to pay for a fast internet connection, but there simply isn’t it. At best, I can download data at 1 Mbps, and often even slower. 66 GB will not allow me to play the game for one and a half or two days. The thing is, I just wanted to play today, because tomorrow I’m leaving home for 10 days. Now I have to wait another two weeks. This crap just pisses me off, ” – another of the gamers shared his situation.
Due to the huge size of the update, Infinity Ward received a flurry of criticism in various social networks.
Is this some kind of joke? Almost have to download the whole multiplayer game again ???? pic.twitter.com/lnrlUvUtce

Infinity Ward also played a cruel joke on the studio’s desire to release the patch as soon as possible. The update eventually flew in on Friday night / Saturday morning and was criticized by many when it was released.
“It was damn inhuman to do this for all Xbox players who want to play first thing in the morning and wake up with a 66GB update,” explained a user with the nickname WILLx7HEx7HRILL.
British telecoms firm Virgin Media told Eurogamer last week that Call of Duty updates are putting a heavy strain on its broadband channels. A week after the start of the fifth season, Internet traffic increased by 60%.
