Jim Ryan wants more crossplay games on PlayStation consoles

President and CEO Sony Interactive Entertainment Jim Ryan in an interview Axios said the company “supports and encourages crossplay.”
As an example, Ryan mentioned such large crossplay games as Fortnite, Rocket league, Call of duty and Minecraft… This year crossplay will also appear in Destiny 2

According to the head of the SIE, the number of crossplay-enabled games on the PlayStation will continue to grow.

Despite this, Sony was the last platform-holder to introduce crossplay support. In addition, in the litigation between Epic Games and Apple it became known that publishers must compensate Sony for losses if, after the inclusion of crossplay, revenues from the PlayStation decrease by 85%. Have Microsoft and Nintendo there are no such conditions.
Finally, last month’s chapter Gearbox Randy Pitchford announced that the developers have finished work on an update for Borderlands 3, which will add crossplay support to the shooter. However, for unknown reasons, the publisher 2K Games asked to disable the option on PlayStation consoles.

In an interview with Axios, Ryan did not elaborate on the Borderlands 3 situation, but noted that Sony’s policy is consistent with all publishers.
