The organization Jedec JESD79-5 DDR5 SDRAM was published, which meets the requirements for high-performance memory and describes the specifications for future RAM.
The description of the standard says that it should provide scalability of memory without compromising channel efficiency and increasing throughput. In numbers, we are talking about a minimum of 4.8 Gbit / s per line. This is 50% higher than the minimum DDR4 speed of 3.2 Gbit / s.
At the same time, the throughput doubled due to the separation of the 64-bit bus into two 32-bit and increased packet length. Other features include reducing voltage from 1.2 to 1.1 V, built-in ECC, improved regeneration, and more.
The timing of the release of ready-made solutions has not yet been announced.
