Japan Retro Games Association Gives Quarantined Children Super Famicom Consoles

Japan Retro Games Association (JARGA) has decided to give out hundreds of consoles to children Super famicom due to the state of emergency during the coronavirus pandemic. The gift kit will include all the laid cables and controllers, as well as games Super donkey kong and Final Fantasy VI (Donkey Kong Country and Final Fantasy III in the West).

To receive the device, you must fill out the form on the JARGA website. Only families with children under 16 years old can apply. On April 27, a lottery will be launched, as a result of which 100 winners will be revealed. The next day, the parcels will be sent throughout the country, the contents will be free of charge, but the recipient will bear the cost of delivery.

The Association asks parents to pay attention to the compatibility of existing TVs, in particular, to check whether they have yellow, red and white video connectors. Employees report that older RCA-connected televisions can be easily found in thrift stores.

Consoles promise to be sanitized before shipment and ensure that they work for at least a week after delivery.

The state of emergency in Japan was introduced on April 7 and will be valid for at least a month.
