James Gunn’s Suicide Squad Trailer Set Record Most Viewed Among R-Rated Movies

While supporters Zach Snyder and bosses WarnerMedia are fighting for the future of SnyderVerse, the closest movie to the DC Cinematic Universe – “Suicide Squad: Mission Kick Through“- breaks records.

Ribbon producer James Gunn published a post on social networks, where he said that the debut video of the new “Suicide Squad” became the most popular in terms of the number of views per week among all trailers marked with the Red Band (uncensored). On all sites, the video was watched in total by over 150 million time

The previous record was held by a new film adaptation Mortal kombat, whose “bloody” trailer has collected 116 million views in the same time. This is followed by videos “Logan“and”Deadpool 2“.

The new Suicide Squad was dropped with an R rating and is marketed as a lightweight reboot of the original 2016 David Eyre film. From the first part, only Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Rick Flag (Yuel Kinnaman), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) and Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) returned to the sequel, while the rest of the caste was completely replaced. Among the new villains, Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Peacemaker (John Cena), Pied Piper II (Daniela Melshior), Savant (Michael Rooker), Blackguard (Pete Davidson), Shark King (Sylvester Stallone) and others joined the squad.

The film starts in Russian cinemas 5th of August… In the US, the theatrical premiere will take place concurrently with the HBO Max release. Also in development is now a television spin-off about the Peacemaker.
