Intel 10nm desktop processors don’t seem to be worth the wait – review

CFO Intel George Davis at the conference Tmt in Morgan stanley I had to answer questions that were ripe for many. We are talking about 10-nanometer processors, which still promise to be released to the market.

Davis said that 10nm chips are just an intermediate link to 7nm. He also noted that such a process would not be as effective as 22 and 14-nanometer. Presumably 7-nanometer chips will be released, in 2023-23, these will be models of a new family Alder lake.

At the same time, the CFO said that by the end of the year on the market, the appearance of server 10-nanometer chips, mobile Tiger lake and GPUs. However, Davis did not say anything about the appearance of desktop chips with such a technical process. It is possible that they will not be at all.

It is possible that 10 nanometers will remain the prerogative of mobile and server systems. The company clearly wants to distance itself from such a major failure, especially against the backdrop of Ryzen’s success.
