A couple of days ago online appeared rumor about developing a remake of the trilogy Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Then user Reddit under the nickname DenseEquation said that the project is preparing for release in the fall of 2023 – at the beginning of 2023. He even attached a concept art and photo to the message, which allegedly shows an early model of the protagonist.
Soon, the information reached the ResetEra forum, where readers turned for comments to trusted industry insiders ZhugeEX and Shinobi602.
The first one simply said:
“There is no remake of The Sands of Time trilogy.”
Shinobi602, in turn, noted that the rumor was only “partially” false. Apparently, thus hinting that a certain project really exists, but not in the form in which DenseEquation described it.
Based on the answers received, fans assume that Ubisoft may not work on a remake, but on remasters of the games of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time trilogy.
If we are talking about a remake, then, for example, only a complete rethinking of the first game of the trilogy, and not all three at once, can be prepared for release. This would explain ZhugeEX’s answer, which indicated that there was no remake of the trilogy itself.
Some also believe that the DenseEquation screenshot presented at the beginning of the news was taken from another upcoming project in the Prince of Persia line, the next part of Assassin’s Creed, or the next set of skins for For Honor.
Earlier this year, another rumor about Prince of Persia was debunked. Then it was reported that the company Ubisoft is allegedly working on the adventure game Dark Babylon, which is a direct continuation of Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones.
