The shareholders of the company are really interested in fixing a franchise that is losing money. But the process can go a little different scenario, which provides for long-term changes.
Presumably, Disney is not interested in releasing films, cartoons, books and comics, the events of which develop after the new trilogy. Insiders say that other time frames were chosen instead, with the main emphasis on the gap between episodes six and seven (“Mandaloretz“, Star Wars: Squadrons). The new trilogy announced a kind of boycott. Officially, it will not be removed from the canon, otherwise the audience will become completely confused. But gradually the plan will be implemented. According to preliminary data, if the changes are positively received by the audience, then in “Star Wars” the multiverse will be presented through one of the animated series, and the new trilogy will be allocated in a separate branch.
Nobody is going to remake films, only they will no longer be considered license plates. Roughly speaking, there will be six episodes of Lucas, as well as many third-party projects, including the Disney trilogy.
