Famous blogger Tom Henderson (TheLongSensation), who specializes in insider Call of duty and Battlefield, shared new rumors related to the new shooter from the Swedish studio EA DICE… As you know, the release of the project is scheduled for 2023, but the official information is still limited to a small cut from the technical demo.
Henderson reiterated his earlier claims that the Swedes are guided by Battlefield 3, which fans are still asking to be revived as a remaster. At the same time, the sixth part may generally lose the number in the title, since we are talking about a soft restart of the entire series, in which the emphasis will be on modern warfare.
The reasons should be clear. If Battlefield 1 sold about 25 million copies (in reality we are talking about 25 million players), then Battlefield v barely crossed the 7.3 million mark (as of February 2019).
As for rumors about a possible release of a remaster of Battlefiled 3, they are not so simple. There were signals from one of the former DICE testers about a possible re-release, but this person no longer works for EA. Henderson himself does not believe in the existence of a remaster, as it makes no sense to the publisher from a financial point of view.
The insider also confirms other rumors according to which DICE will significantly increase the scale of hostilities. But there is a nuance here. In the version for PC, Xbox Series X and PS5, players will face battles in which up to 128 fighters will be able to face off simultaneously (64 versus 64). However, these match rules will not be available in all modes.
IN Electronic Arts they also remember the audience that continues to play on PS4 and Xbox One, while sales of new generation systems have stalled amid the pandemic. Therefore, another team is now developing a separate version for the previous generation consoles. Battlefield 6, in which the maximum number of players will be limited to 64 fighters (32 versus 32). Also, we should expect reduced graphics settings and limited destructibility of objects on the maps.
Despite the deafening failure of the regime Firestorm for Battlefield V, EA and DICE are not ready to abandon the concept of Battle Royale given the phenomenal success Call of Duty: Warzone… Therefore, the developers are ready to try again, but it is still impossible to say whether the improved version of Firestorm will survive until release.
