In the Unreal Engine 5 editor on a mobile GeForce RTX 2080, the demo produces up to 40 FPS in 1440p – review

On May 13, a presentation of the capabilities of the PlayStation 5 in the demo on Unreal engine 5However, apparently, she still did not use all the features of the system – first of all, SSD.
According to a representative of the Chinese division Epic games, the company intends to optimize the engine so that with the graph shown on the new generation consoles, output 60 frames per second – so far, however, only stable 30 FPS have been achieved.

At the same time, in the Unreal Engine 5 editor on a mobile NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 and a Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 SSD-drive (speed up to 3.5 gigabytes per second), the demo can produce up to 40 frames per second at a resolution of 1440p.

At the same time, it is not clear from the statement how many frames an average demo engine produces on a designated computer – on a PS5, which uses an SSD with a speed of up to 9 gigabytes per second, it works at a stable 30 FPS.

And in general, the comparison is somewhat dishonest, since there is a comparison of the work in the editor on the PC and in the “finished” version on the PS5.

Recall that the Xbox Series X includes media at speeds up to 4.6 gigabytes per second. At the same time, Epic Games and Microsoft could not confirm whether this demo will be able to run on the console.

An early version of Unreal Engine 5 will appear early next year, and a few months after that, Fortnite developers will begin the transfer of the royal battle to a new engine.
