In the digital distribution service Steam there was a sharp increase in prices for the company’s games Electronic arts. The change affected most of the publisher’s products in all regions, including the CIS and Russia in particular..
So, if earlier Mirror’s edge and Mass effect 2 sold in the Russian segment of Steam for 299 and 399 rubles respectively, then today both games have risen in price to 999 rubles. Similarly, the cost of both parts of Dead Space, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, Medal of Honor, Dragon Age: Origins rose 2-3 times , Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and other EA projects. The minimum cost of publishing games on Steam is now 699 rubles, and the upper bar has increased to 1399 rubles.
For residents of Ukraine, the situation was even worse. Games there are now sold more expensive than in most countries and are second only to prices in the UAE and Israel. The reason for this increase is unknown. Prices may have changed by mistake, but there haven’t been any comments from EA yet.
In October, Electronic Arts announced its return to Steam with the game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Other EA releases should also appear on Valve platform this year and earn a subscription. EA Access.
We asked the official Russian distributor of Electronic Arts, SoftKlab, to comment on the news, but have not yet received an answer. The news will be updated as soon as the situation clears up.
