In the adventure Under the Counter, Lovecraft is combined with military history – Igromania

Studio Korba Games announced an adventure visual novel Under the counter with an unusual interweaving of settings. It takes place in 1940, during the Second World War. But at the same time, the myths of Lovecraft and the works of Marc Mignola, author of the series “Hellboy“.

Our protagonist is a former sailor Vincent, the owner of a market counter. And his image was influenced by a historical figure: Vincent Andrushkevich, nicknamed Vikus the Sailor. During the war years, he traded excellent food and drink on the Warsaw market, and at the same time, on behalf of the underground, he bought weapons and ammunition from the Germans.

Our main occupation will be exactly this: serving customers, trying to make ends meet, learning about the horrors of war, making plans for resistance. Local residents, representatives of the underground, as well as German soldiers will come to our counter.

But over time, supernatural motives will begin to weave into this story. It turns out that for some time people began to disappear without a trace. A strange military unit has arrived in the city, every day more and more unfamiliar customers come to the counter, and at night the hero has terrible dreams about a many-eyed monster in the dark.

The creators of Under the Counter compare their game to Papers, Please, Not tonight, Night call and We. The revolution… And release it in Steam plan on June 30, 2023.
