It turns out that in a photo fashion Control for next-gen consoles in “quality” mode, the game removes the framerate cap, making it possible to compare PS5 and Xbox Series X.
In the available modes, recall, both consoles show almost identical results: the PS5 loses a little more frames, and the Xbox Series X gets stuck when the FPS drops. Otherwise, the versions are the same.
During gameplay with ray tracing, it is impossible to remove the 30 FPS limit, but in the photo mode, the frame rate limit for some reason increases to 60 FPS.
On Xbox Series X, according to Digital Foundry tests, the performance difference with PS5 can reach 9-10 FPS. The video processor of the Microsoft console is about 16-20% more powerful than the Sony system module, so the result can even be called expected.
In some scenes on Series X it even shows a stable 60 FPS, but in others the performance can drop to 33 frames – and you should take into account that this is in photo mode, without dynamic scenes. In gameplay, the frame rate may be lower.
