Human Farm authors compare their project with This War of Mine and The Walking Dead – review

The other day, exactly on April 1, the Polish publishing house Gaming factory together with the studio Jtown games announced an unusual and ambiguous simulator Human farm. The game about pigs that raise people for slaughter, as it turned out, is not done by vegetarians.
As explained in an interview Polskigamedev.pl Gaming Factory employees, the creators did not intend to release a manifest on animal cruelty. Instead, they are trying to create a work of art that evokes reflection.

As conceived by the creators, Human Farm should awaken the same emotions as This war of mine and The walking dead. Game cruelty should only reflect the injustice of the real world.

The game will have many different terms, and each player will be able to find something of their own. We take ideas from films like “Matrix“,”1984“,”Barnyard” or “Delicacies“. Of course, there will be elements related to animal husbandry, and problems of animal protection, and references to universal problems, as in The Matrix. Players will decide for themselves.

The authors of the game, in particular, argue that in Human Farm it is easy to see criticism of capitalism. After all, players can try to alleviate the fate of people who are being fired for meat, or at least deprive them of suffering. But this will be associated with additional costs, and the laws of capitalism say that where there is income, there is someone else’s loss.

We took up a difficult topic. And how it will develop depends on the player. Will he become a cold capitalist, for whom business is paramount, or will he be the one who lives in a complex world and is forced to earn his daily bread – but at the same time takes care of those who are nearby.

Players will have a reason to think about animals, about themselves, about their conscience … and this is what we want to achieve.

However, the creators of Human Farm warn that the work is at an early stage and much in the project may change over time. The release will take place no earlier than 2023.
