Identifying streamers that have fired is a difficult task. Most content makers have to grow their audience gradually in order to gain a foothold in the top rankings. In this article, I will try to assess not only the growth in subscribers and the number of views on the streamer’s channel, but also to analyze what type of content has become popular in 2023. Spoiler alert: the days of trash streams are slowly fading away.

This is not a channel rating by popularity. There are streamers in the CIS who have more subscribers, but in 2023 they were not able to increase their viewer base on Twitch. Many channels have grown – this is a normal practice. Most of the streamers that I have noted in this article are looking for new formats for broadcasting – this is definitely worth the attention of users. However, you will also find the favorites of the esports audience here.

The statistical data in the article are based on information that is posted in the public domain. These are mainly portals TwitchTracker, SullyGnome and Social Blade.

VooDooSh created a Twitch channel in 2015, and it took him many years to get from the bottom of the platform to the top of the weekly rankings. In life, Alexander Shalchinov is an exemplary family man, a happy father, an old esports crowd and an avid poker player.

The main game on the VooDooSh stream is Heroes of Might and Magic III. In October 2023, he almost single-handedly dragged the strategy into the top 8 watch time of all categories on Twitch. In addition to “Heroes”, Shalchinov plays classic World of Warcraft, and also does not ignore the latest in the industry – on the channel you can find the passage of The Last of Us Part II, Death Stranding, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and other games.

A distinctive feature of the VooDooSh channel is the lamp-like effect. It’s no secret that as the number of subscribers grows, each individual user ceases to be important, streamers begin to perceive their fans as a single audience, and not people with different views and preferences. On small channels, the communication between the follower and the presenter is much more intimate.

VooDooSh has more than a hundred thousand followers, but the atmosphere of friendly get-togethers still persists: he happily adds subscribers to friends on social networks, is interested in their life, asks questions to the most active chat users and takes criticism into account.

In 2023, all esports players got what they asked for – a long-awaited break from flying from one major tournament to another. Alexander s1mple Kostylev took advantage of the forced weekend to the maximum: increased activity on Twitch. While countless bots were streaming replays of his CS: GO skating rink, the original Kostylev had fun in Valorant (71.6 hours on air), Call of Duty: Warzone (27.1 hours) and even Dota 2 (23.6 hours).

One of Kostylev’s hobbies during the forced LAN-pause was playing “Mafia”. Thanks to the acquaintance with streamers from the Just Chatting tab, the casual audience also learned about the charismatic professional player. S1mple, in turn, gave the “mafia” community a new name for civilians – “citizens”.

In a typical esports season, s1mple would not be able to stream on an ongoing basis – the trend of “empty” weeks without a single undercut can be clearly seen in the channel statistics of past years. The pandemic helped the fans of the esports player to watch him more often in a dressing gown and relaxed.

During the year, Olsior devoted 623 hours of his life to this section, that is, more than 80% of the total broadcast time. First, he broke into the Mafia community, and then succumbed to temptation and began to watch anime with viewers.

However, the main feature of Olsior broadcasts is not in Naruto, as many regular viewers of Zverev might think. The commentator regularly hosts intellectual shows on Twitch – he has established a series of “His Game” tournaments among subscribers, as well as came up with the “Smartest in Esports” show, which features industry stars. In general, you won’t be able to leave the Olsior stream without new knowledge.

It’s hard to believe that one of the most popular streamers of 2023 in 2019 has been streaming to a dozen viewers for over half a year. He is not a newcomer to Twitch, but Colonel Busterenko’s content became viral only in the era of self-isolation. Information about mothers is a channel chip, not a manifestation of toxicity. In the description of the channel and social networks, as well as on personal merchandise, Buster posted the phrase: “Appreciate mothers.”

In 2019, 96.5% of the content on the Buster channel consisted of Fortnite. In the past year, he completely redefined his approach to streaming, abandoned Epic Games’ battle royale and started doing good in Just Chatting (390 hours) and Counter-Strike (228 hours). Papic’s niche on Twitch was vacated, and someone had to take on the heavy burden of rage and kringe. Due to the shocking content, views have crept up.

In November, Booster staged a show match, in which Yegor Creed also took part – a bachelor, heartthrob and one of the show business stars who know about the existence of a platform with great potential, especially in times of total absence of real concerts. During this broadcast, Buster set a record for the peak viewership in the Russian-speaking segment among personal channels.

In 2023, dinablin buffed the channel by thousands of views and significantly increased its subscribers, while the number and duration of its broadcasts remained practically unchanged. The answer suggests itself – the quality of broadcasts has improved, and that is why viewers began to stay on the channel for a long time. Perhaps they were attracted by the cool screaming chicken emoji?

Dina is streaming in the Just Chatting category, but her content is different from the “average”. First, a girl never dresses openly or provocatively. Secondly, he comes up with and conducts a variety of shows with the participation of other streamers, both popular and little-known, thereby providing interesting personalities with a springboard. If you have long wanted to watch the modern “Guess the Melody” or laugh heartily at the attempts of streamers to spin a romance – you are on dinablin channel. By the way, it is Dina who takes the first line in popularity among Russian-speaking girls-streamers.

In 2023 Vadim Evelone Kozakov began to make content in frantic quantities and increased its popularity. Evelon devoted most of the broadcasts throughout the year to the mafia. In fact, it was he who popularized this social deduction game in the CIS segment. Many famous cybersportsmen got to the same mafia table with Evelon – and he made a show out of this and increased the audience.

Perhaps, Evelone’s content is the most toxic of this collection – it’s not for nothing that the streamer got banned five times a year. One of them was supposed to be permanent, but the content maker managed to come to an agreement with the administration of the platform. The second could not be avoided.

At the time of publication of the article, the Evelone192 channel on Twitch is in a bathhouse – it is not known for certain whether it is really permanent, but the streamer has already moved to YouTube. He has maintained friendly relations with many of the popular Twitch content makers, so it’s not a fact that we’ll never see Vadim there.

In order not to bore you with a large amount of additional information about streamers, I will just share the statistics collected for the article. The channels of these content makers also “shot” in 2023 – some thanks to luck, some thanks to patronage. However, each of them invests time and energy into streaming, as it is impossible to become popular without these “secret ingredients”.

Next year, some of the Twitch streamers will lose their subscribers, and some will increase. New stars will also appear on the set, and it could be you. Make quality content and be honest. Holiday greetings!
