Dance is an element of social interaction that has been known to people since ancient times. Even before the invention of writing with the help of movements, people would communicate with friends, enemies, loved ones and relatives. Some people sincerely believe that they don’t know how to dance, and in everyday life we often don’t notice that we use different steps – and this feature was added to many games.
Dance can be different: evil and kind, impudent and sweet, sexual and militant. The message that he carries in himself is more spectacular than in-game dialogs, visually pleasing and allows you to painlessly introduce elements of cultural heritage into the game.

In Dota, an in-game store sells a variety of ridicule. A good half of them are short dance movements, with the help of which you can amuse allies and bully opponents. Leshrac loves to light in a disco, Lion flexes well, and Lifestealer brings down the bottom break. And you know what? Hardly anyone would be happy to see dancing on the corpse of their hero – personally, I am incredibly tilt from this. And Pudge and Alchemist shake with a belly no worse than the “puff” in the video of Little Big, – maybe take them to Eurovision?

References to celebrity dances in League of Legends
All champions have dances in LoL; to activate them, you can write in chat / dance or / d or press the key combination Ctrl + 3. Many of them are copied from the cult movements of stars. For example, Michael Jackson’s dance to the song Thriller was won by Warwick, Twisted Fate performs the famous PSY movements from the Gangnam Style video, and Elementalist Lux repeats the movements from three K-pop clips at once – Me gustas tu from GFRIEND, Pepe from CLC and Why from TAEYEON.

Lineage II has few built-in emotions: each race has a short dance and a couple of separate movements like “Into battle” and “Waiting”. However, in later versions – olds with C4 may not know about it – the ability to invite any character who is not far from you to the dance was added to the game. Calling a full-breasted elf to tango together without her consent will not work: the partner must confirm the action.
In the “Line” with the help of movements you can communicate with a Korean or Chinese who has wandered to play on an international server, but does not understand a word in the languages you know. During the many hours of waiting for the raid boss Cabrio, there are only two options to have fun: challenge the running players to a duel or invite them to a dance. This option can also be used in PvP: some bards “aggro” damageers and throw a request for a lambada – a dirty receiver that forces automatic rejection of joint actions in the settings.

There are a lot of opportunities for manipulating the mood of a gamer through dancing. For example, Elizabeth performed a very beautiful dance in BioShock Infinite: she was so passionate that the hero barely managed to attract her attention. This scene made me smile.

Controversial Dances at Fortnite
The most famous dance from Fortnite – The Floss – cannot be called genius from the point of view of choreography, but there is one plus in this: thanks to simple movements, almost all the children in the world learned it. It’s not so easy to repeat the simplest steps: I succeeded on the tenth attempt, and this is with a rich dance experience.
The Floss Movement Epic Games borrowed from teenager Russell Horning, better known as the Backpack Kid. He originally performed on stage with Katy Perry, and the developers adapted the dance for Fortnite.
Mom Backpack Kid was against the fact that a large company profited on the work of her son, and sued her. Fortunately for Epic Games, U.S. laws do not set forth clear rules for assigning copyright to movements, unlike music or literature. Judges are still deciding whether a dance can in principle be considered authorial. The confusion in the laws did not prevent other stars from bombarding Epic Games with lawsuits: rapper BlocBoy JB, actor Alfonso Ribeiro, saxophonist Leo Pellegrino and others filed complaints about the game studio.
However, the best dance in Fortnite, I think the classics – Dance Moves. Movements similar to the dance from the TV series “Clinic” are accessible to all characters, they are simple and easy to remember, and the music that accompanies them is stuck in the head for a long time.
From the point of view of staging, most dances in games do not meet modern standards: it is unlikely that the characters from them could conquer the jury of dance competitions. But these movements are short and capacious, and with due diligence, even an unprepared person can execute them. However, they have an important social function, give positive emotions and atmosphere. Dance more in games and in life: it’s useful and fun, and with due diligence it’s also beautiful!
