Sometimes, newlyweds receive various bonuses: because of this, it happens that the marriage is not connected with love, and the players consider it exclusively as an opportunity to unlock “buns” like boost boosts or free teleports – these are real marriages of convenience. I’ll tell you about the unions of two loving hearts in the popular MMORPG in more detail – how the characters can get married and why.
World of Warcraft – RPG
In many games, there is only one way to conduct the ceremony – to come up with it from beginning to end and organize it yourself. There is no special wedding quest in World of Warcraft, but this does not stop the lovers from getting married. The network even sells turnkey wedding organization services – you just have to notify the guests about the date and time of the ceremony, and then arrive at the appointed place.
Role-playing weddings in World of Warcraft are completely different: newlyweds can come up with a thematic ceremony or give preference to a classic wedding in the church. And there are enough beautiful locations in MMORPG from Blizzard.
Often, an in-game wedding does not replace, but supplements the real one: for example, a couple of Kelia and David organized a celebration in World of Warcraft a week after the real wedding. Two gnomes invited their Sogildians and once again secured the oath of eternal love.

Of course, there are exceptions, but the male half is usually not really too keen on choosing a shade of napkins or music for the restaurant – what can we expect from them in the game?
Lineage II – Competitive weddings
The Koreans added the possibility of marriage to Lineage II, but this feature did not reach the official Russian-language servers. Innova left in the game a quest for a wedding dress and dress coat, but she removed the team for the ritual, and a special NPC did not appear in the CIS.
On the majority of Lineage II “freebies” there is a wedding quest. For the ceremony, you need to get a formal costume and talk with the founder. The bride and groom must be on each other’s friends list – in real life it is also better to be not only lovers, but also comrades. If all conditions are met, then first one partner says yes, then another, and a notification is sent to the entire server that the characters are married.
Lineage ii
Such a scheme is rather unromantic, therefore, without roleplaying in Lineage II it also does not do. As a result, even at Ruoff, game masters came up with a way out: wedding rituals became the reward for the most active members of the community. The opportunity to enter into a marriage is played out in competitions, and the administration takes on the organization of the ceremony. But on such servers there is one limitation: characters can get married only if they are heterosexual.
By the way, in Lineage II implemented and divorce. If it doesn’t work out with love, you can unilaterally terminate the contract by writing to chat / divorce.
The Elder Scrolls Online – the wedding with the first comer
The Elder Scrolls Online was released later than other games on my list, in addition, it is far from the classic gameplay for the genre. When I played TESO, it always seemed to me that it was more of a single player with advanced settings than MMORPG. However, the opportunity to arrange a wedding is one of those multiplayer features that still got into the game. The restrictions are the same as in Lineage II – only a hero of the opposite sex can be taken as a spouse.

To marry, you and your partner will need to travel together to the Wayrest temple district. The Sanctuary of Mary is responsible for the love bonds: you need to activate the quest using a ritual scroll from the donation store – it costs a thousand crowns, that is, about ₽800. If everything is done correctly, a stream of energy will burst from the altar and bind your souls together, and a ring will appear in your inventory that gives + 10% of experience. Many people use this ritual without any sympathy for each other: they simply find a character who does not mind doing a quest, they drop off on a scroll, get loot and go about their business. The heroes have no additional obligations.
Perfect World – European and Chinese Ceremonies
The most elaborate wedding ceremony in MMORPG, in my opinion, is implemented in Perfect World. The developers of this game made a bet on the romantic relationship between the characters: girls can be carried on hands, give them flowers and kisses, and for couples there are events and daily tasks that are not available to single people.
Perfect world
There are two ways to get married in Perfect World: European or Eastern. Both rituals require a fair amount of preparation, as well as funds for the purchase of dresses, flowers and decorative elements. Firstly, holding a ceremony without guests will not work – for the quest at least a few witnesses will be needed. Secondly, at the wedding you have to fight with the boss, whose role in the case of the traditional ceremony is the “jealous ex”, and at the Chinese wedding – different spirits.
The result of the wedding ceremony depends on how prepared you are. During the holiday, guests and newlyweds will need to collect activity points. You can do this in a variety of ways – dance, cut and try the cake, break the crystals, try on the boutonniere, etc. The quality of the ring will determine the quality of the rings the newlyweds will receive at the end of the event. Subsequently, the wedding items will give the husband and wife a unique reinforcement, and the improvement in performance will depend on how fun the wedding was. Everything is as in life: a wife will be able to saw her husband for years of lack of diligence.
Same-sex marriage is prohibited in Perfect World. If one of the spouses is tired of the second half, he can take the task “Divorce”, but for this you will have to pay 2 million gold coins.
Final Fantasy XIV – as realistic as possible
Final Fantasy XIV has a lot of problems with the gameplay, but couples in love can only pay a subscription to celebrate their wedding in this amazing virtual world. The ceremony is even cooler than in Perfect World.
The official ritual is preceded by a preparatory quest. The bride and groom need to go to the Sanctuary of the Twelve in the East Shroud and choose with what scale they want to have a wedding – the cost of the celebration will depend on their decision.

If you are single and haven’t met anyone in the game, and marriage to a random oncoming person seems to be too much, then do not be discouraged – for you there is an option in Star Wars: The Old Republic. In this game, users can marry their companions.
As in the case of TESO, sometimes during the passage of storyline campaigns SWTOR you forget that you are playing MMORPG. In your group, sometimes for a long time there may be only NPCs – with them the character can have a romantic relationship. As such, there is no wedding ritual in the game, but with a certain degree of affection for each other, the heroes suddenly realize that they should be together forever – and now you are getting married. Everything happens behind the scenes, you are only notified about this.
Star Wars: The Old Republic
This is one of the few games where you can officially develop same-sex relationships. A marriage with a companion opens up new dialogues, tasks and unexpected plot twists, but in general it does not affect the campaign.
Many are skeptical of weddings in games, but I can not come up with any worthwhile arguments against – why not two gamers to hold an unusual ceremony in the virtual world? She will not replace a real wedding, but, undoubtedly, she will give positive emotions.
There are a lot of MMORPGs, and in most of them hearts in love can swear eternal love to each other and throw a party in honor of this – and it will cost them much less than in reality.
