Russian-language portals usually, after some time, simply translate materials from the listed sites.

When studying the guides, you need to take into account that they are written by other players who may be wrong, so you should not take these tips as absolute truth – think with your own head. In addition, Blizzard often releases updates that alter the balance of the game and thus affect the meta. Because of this, some points in the manual may not be relevant – it depends on how often the author edits the material. Remember to check the information from the guides with other sources. A user who wants to learn how to play, first of all, should pay attention to his personal rating. It will appear after you go through the first raids and upload the so-called log to the site. However, this can be done by other gamers who were present with you when killing bosses. Going to Warcraft Logs, you need to drive a nickname into the search bar and go to the character’s page. There you can see your rank – this is the position among all players in the world on your class and role (that is, the less, the better). The rating should be treated with a slight skepticism, because it is highly dependent on the level of equipment and the team in which you play. Nevertheless, if your indicators are completely bad (colored green or gray), this means that you are doing something wrong and it is worthwhile to figure it out.

The most effective way to improve your skills with Warcraft Logs is to compare yourself to more successful players in the same class and role. To do this, you need to go to the main page of the site and open the full list of the All Stars category, which will correspond to the raid and role you are interested in. There we set filters by region, class and faction, and then select the player we like. After that, we can go to the boss of interest and open the logs of this gamer. In the report itself, we are interested in two categories – “Spells” and “Repeat”. With the help of the first, we can see the type and sequence of spells of a particular player, that is, study the rotation of abilities, the observance of which is necessary in order to use the character as efficiently as possible for damage, survival or healing. The second function allows you to open a 2D battle recording. By examining this data and comparing it with your metrics, you can understand what you are doing wrong and what should be worked on first.

Videos from experienced players

Watching recordings of other gamers’ battles is time consuming, but it can be very helpful in improving personal skills. In the video, you can see how the player positions himself and what abilities he uses in a given situation. In addition, when studying the video, it is worth paying attention to how the user distributes the so-called bursts (abilities that give strong offensive or defensive enhancements, but at the same time take a long time to recover).

You can find such videos and streams on YouTube or Twitch, as well as on the Raider.io website, which I mentioned above. In addition, you should inquire about such videos in the class Discord channel. It is important to analyze the game of the best gamers, because studying the actions of inexperienced players will do more harm than good. If you regularly watch the recordings of skill gamers, you will gain important experience in different situations, notice non-obvious tricks and significantly add to your understanding of many aspects of World of Warcraft.

Addons, macros, binds and simcraft

In addition to learning the guides and mechanics of the game, you need to put things in order in the technical component of your client and character. Third, experienced users almost never click abilities with the mouse – all spells must be assigned to specific buttons on the keyboard. This primarily applies to abilities that are part of your main rotation. Some rare spells like “Walking on water” can be left without a specific key. In addition, it is worth choosing the buttons on the keyboard wisely – for example, it is better not to bind abilities to the conditional keys “8” or “9”, because it will be very difficult to reach them in battle. Ignoring this point will make you less effective in combat.

Fourth, to achieve maximum results, it is important not only to press the buttons correctly, but also to effectively dress the character. It was already mentioned above that the best items (BIS – best in slot) are usually indicated in the class guide, but the choice is not obvious in all situations. In the current version of World of Warcraft, a special website and addon called Raidbots and Simulationcraft, respectively, have been developed for this. Extensions allow you to run a simulation of a real battle, as a result of which the program will determine how much you will be strengthened by a particular item. Unfortunately, for the classic version of WoW, there is no such convenient analogue yet.

Practice

After you understand all of the above points, it remains to apply the knowledge in practice. Of course, it will not be possible to immediately become one of the best players in the world, because theory and the real situation in battle are completely different things. However, if you get serious about the process, then over time, you will master all the key aspects and hone the mechanics of World of Warcraft, which as a result will allow you to perform your tasks in PvE better and more efficiently than any average player.
