On September 23, Blizzard will release the highly anticipated Diablo II: Resurrected, a remaster of the original Diablo II with the Lord of Destruction expansion. While waiting for the updated version, you can return to the original or the third part, or you can go through similar titles – fortunately, there is plenty to choose from. Watch

The first game from Runic Games, a studio founded by the Blizzard North natives responsible for the original Diablo. Therefore, you should not expect revelations from the game: this is a classic diabloid with procedural generation of dungeons and numerous loot. Among the bonuses, you can recall the ability to retire, leaving the next hero with some special items and pets. The latter are able to help in battle or carry things on themselves (and carry them to the city for sale!). And by feeding them with special fish, you can turn a cute dog (or whatever you choose there) into a huge fighting creature that scatters all living things.

Watch

One of the first Diablo killers, released back in 2000. Mechanically, Nox is quite different from the rest of the games in the collection: it has somewhat unusual controls, only what the main character can see is displayed on the screen, physics for its time is surprisingly developed, and the gameplay often requires skills at the level of shooters. There are only three classes, but each is as different as possible from the other and changes a lot, right down to the details of the plot and the starting location of the game. The mechanics are also different: the warrior fights mainly in close combat and uses various skills, the sorcerer enchants monsters, and the magician throws destructive spells with might and main.

One of the most recent games on the list. Last Epoch offers an almost classic experience of playing Diablo with minor nuances like non-linear character development with more flexible customization for yourself: there are not so many active skills, but each of them can be developed into something truly unique thanks to a special pumping system. A distinctive feature of the game is time travel: the same locations in different periods may look completely different. Last Epoch is still in Early Access and continues to receive regular updates, with a release scheduled for 2023. Nevertheless, there is already enough content in it to captivate fans of the genre for a long time.

Demon Hunter Adventure is smaller in scale than most of the games on the list, but does a pretty good job of filling the time while waiting for the Diablo II remaster. Victor Vran offers an in-depth look at skills, weapons, and leveling options in a shorter, more focused adventure. In addition, the game is much simpler and can be a good entry point into the ARPG genre. Hardcore fans are recommended as a way to take a break from the heavier genre siblings. The duration of the campaign can be increased through DLC.

Another fresh game released a little over a year ago. The main local feature is the complete absence of classes: the hero’s abilities depend on the chosen equipment, and passive skills in a special Kaleidoscope of Fate add to the uniqueness of the build. Well, and loot, of which there is an incredible amount, plus there is an opportunity to recolor and change almost all the elements at your discretion. On release, the game was rightly scolded for numerous bugs, but over time, the developers were able to fix most of them and still support their creation with small updates and seasonal events.
