Cybersport.ru, together with the Konstantin Khabensky Charitable Foundation, continues a series of publications about children who face serious oncological diseases and face them with battle. Our hero Vladimir Gribkov is like a famous warrior from online games: he not only continues to fight cancer, but also enjoys life. Vova was pleased to tell us about his hobbies, among which esports occupies an important place.

According to opinion polls, a third of Russians are convinced that cancer is incurable and always leads to death. This stereotype is dangerous, because it often leads to a late diagnosis of cancer. We want to change that. The Konstantin Khabensky Charitable Foundation, which helps children with cancer and other serious brain diseases, has launched a social project. Its purpose is to clearly demonstrate that cancer is not a sentence, # will be cured. As part of a social campaign, of which the project with Cybersport.ru became a part, hundreds of people talk about how they defeated oncology. You can find out their stories on the site raklechitsa.ru.

Vova Gribkov – future cybersportsman or neurosurgeon

Vova has pyloid astrocytoma of the brain stem, which was discovered in 2016. The tumor was partially removed, but in November 2019, a small increase was again recorded, requiring repeated surgery. Cancer did not become a verdict for the teenager – he goes to school, talks with friends and plays his favorite Fortnite.

If you hit the road with a friend – more fun than the rink

During a serious illness, supporting friends is one of the most important aspects. Fortnite can be played in a group of four users, but Vova said that he has much more friends who love this game – somewhere around 7-8 people. Usually after school, they call up and meet online. Epic Games holds many events at Fortnite. For example, during the “Aggregate” event, a huge wave surrounded the map. In him participated more than 20 million people, among “surfers involuntarily” was Vova. Although, according to him, he loves musical events more.

Vova Gribkov:

“My favorite artist is Marshmello, his concert was in the seventh season. Of the latter, the most memorable performance by Travis Scott. All events are very cool, emotions are going through the roof. ”

In the country, Vova often plays in the mobile Brawl Stars. He says that this is a way out, because “you can’t drag a computer to the country.” Vova tried to participate in in-game tournaments from developers, but he did not always succeed. Our hero’s favorite genre is “royal battle”. Even in Brawl Stars, he often plays in the “Collision” mode, which is very similar to her.

Vova Gribkov:

“There are ten people playing on the server, the zone is moving, as in Fortnite. When two people remain, “Clash” is written in capital letters – at this moment you need to kill each other faster, that’s all. Those who stayed won. ”

“I want to become an eSportsman or a neurosurgeon”

Vova’s real passion is eSports. He closely monitors players from FaZe Clan, Gambit, NAVI, and Virtus.pro. Most of all he likes Gambit players in Fortnite. Inspired by their successes on the professional stage, Vladimir himself decided to become an e-sportsman, although he believes that this profession can be combined with another occupation.

Vova Gribkov:

“I focus on the profession of cybersportsman. But the school doesn’t have such a definition – an e-sportsman, so if it does, then maybe I’ll become a neurosurgeon. I think that in order to become an esportsman, you need to pay 3-4 hours a day to games. It all depends on your performance – I do my lessons quickly, I still have time to play. ”

Mom Svetlana Gribkova admits that restricts her son in his passion for computer games. She wants him to spend more time doing useful activities and studying, but she has no prejudices about computer games.

Svetlana supports her son’s desire to become an e-sportsman: she believes that this is a good substitute for football, which Vova will not be able to do professionally because of the diagnosis.

Svetlana Gribkova:

“If you give him free rein, he will sit at the computer all 24 hours, but I want him to do something else. If he likes to play, I see nothing wrong with that. He said that he wanted to become an eSportsman – let him try. At first he wanted to be a soccer player, but this path is closed for us, so let him realize himself in another sport. ”

The inclusion of e-sports is one of the important factors in the development of this area. Professional training of athletes, football players and other athletes is associated with heavy loads, which the body weakened by the disease is unlikely to cope with. The path from an ordinary player to a professional in e-sports is accessible to everyone – you just have to start.

Esports is not only an interesting field of activity, but also a chance for people with disabilities and for those who have had serious illnesses to officially become an athlete and fight on equal terms with other people in the online space. The opportunities that eSports offer are hard to underestimate. The best teams raise their cups above their heads and get medals in the largest stadiums. And the emotions that computer sports give people are easy to capture: when we win or cheer for the champion, we smile. Let’s do it more often.
