Silent – the legend of Team Empire
After an unsuccessful performance at The International 2012 with Moscow FiveAyrat Silent Gaziev first moved to Team empire… Gaziev played for her for a little over six months, but he never won major tournaments. Therefore, in April 2013, he left the team and, together with Arthur Goblak Kostenko first I tried myself at dd.Dota, and then at Quantic Gaming. Here the player was also disappointed, but then everything changed dramatically.
After The International 2013, Gaziev returned to Team Empire, and for the club this transfer marked the best period in its history. Against the background of the fact that NAVI was gradually losing shape, Empire won back the status of the best team in the CIS. The team received invites to two The International in a row, but failed to realize themselves at both tournaments. After an offensive 9-12 place at TI5, Gaziev played for Empire for some time, but the team’s results deteriorated noticeably, so the player moved to Virtus.pro by the end of the year. Gaziev could not fully prove himself there – he was prevented by health problems. After he tried himself in Vega Squadron in fifth position, but did not achieve results similar to those in Empire.
At the end of 2017, Team Empire put Vladimir Chappie Kuzmenko on the transfer and, to the delight of all fans of the club, invited Silent to the first position. But this comeback cannot be called successful. Together with Gaziev, Empire performed well in a couple of online tournaments, but failed the qualifiers for The Bucharest Major and ESL One Katowice 2018. Therefore, in February 2018, Silent was in reserve, and was replaced by Alexander Nix Levin… After the Empire, Gaziev had a rather successful, albeit short period of Winstrike Team, however, neither in terms of results, nor in terms of personal execution, he could not return to the level of Team Empire times.
ArtStyle and the mistakes of youth
Late 2010 Ivan ArtStyle Antonov joined the composition Natus Vincere for Dota 2 as a captain. Six months later, he led the team to victory at the first The International, however, just two weeks after the triumph, he suddenly left the team – moreover, having had time to clash with the leadership. ArtStyle was the only member of the team who did not give the club 10% of the winnings. As a result, this led to the fact that NAVI announced a boycott of Antonov, and he himself, after the failure at TI2 as part of Darer went into inactive for two years.
He returned to the ArtStyle stage in 2014 and started playing for tier-2 teams. But six months later, he received an invitation to join NAVI, which after leaving Clement Puppey Ivanova found himself in a difficult situation. By that time, everyone had already forgotten about the boycott, and Antonov immediately became the captain of the roster. NAVI improved significantly under his leadership, but at TI5 they failed and were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. After that, he left the Natus Vincere roster several more times and returned again, but he could not achieve serious results. But this short stage in his career again returned Antonov to the “big game”. ArtStyle’s experience and leadership qualities brought him to the coaching bridge of Virtus.pro, which he helped to reach 5-6 places at The International. Despite the positive end of the difficult relationship with NAVI for ArtStyle, Antonov believes that his main mistake in his career was the very first decision to leave the Ukrainian club after winning The International 2011.
In case of problems call ana
It is not always worth going back to the place where you were driven out – a wise saying that would suit many players, but not Anathan ana Famu. After all, it was the Australian who succeeded, perhaps, the steepest comeback in history.
Ana burst onto the professional scene rather abruptly, winning two majors on the move OG… However, fans and analysts still considered him a weak link in the team. Immediately after the failure at TI7, where OG was going as a favorite, it was ana who was the first to leave the roster.
However, shortly before TI8 from OG to EG unexpectedly left Fly and s4… Have n0tail by that time, there was practically no time to collect a new roster, and therefore he again turned to ana. Everyone remembers what happened next: a sensational victory at The International, which made the members of the squad millionaires. After TI8, carry left OG again, this time on his own initiative. But neither Pajkattnor iLTW could not adequately replace Fam. So when OG was close to missing TI9, ana returned again. What came of this, you probably also remember: the second consecutive championship at The International and carry Io performed by the Australian, who killed opponents under the fountain. Probably if Valve hadn’t canceled TI10 due to the pandemic, MidOne it was worth starting to get nervous, because the shadow of ana, who came for the third Aegis, would hang over him.
Arteezy between two fires
The most ironic and, in a sense, even cruel story of returning to the home club is definitely from Arthur Arteezy Babaeva… Babaev is the symbol of the North American team Evil Geniuses and its main star. He joined the team at the beginning of 2014 and six months later took third place at TI4, and this result is still his best in the main series of Dota tournaments. Then ambitions brought Babaev to the star lineup Team Secret led by Puppey. However, at TI5, the team took 7th-8th place, unexpectedly losing to Virtus.pro. But EG without Arteezy managed to become the champion.
Babaev, realizing that he was mistaken, returned to Evil Geniuses, but shortly before the start of the qualifiers for TI6 he again moved to Team Secret. And this time the journey to the Puppey collective was even more inglorious for Arteezy. At TI6, Team Secret was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs and finished 16th. But EG, without Babayev, were able to again enter the top three teams of the tournament.
After such unsuccessful transitions to Secret, the player decided to finally connect himself with EG and throw any other teams out of his head. True, while above the third place at TI, which he reached at the beginning of his career, Babaev could not rise.
Lil home again
For Lil, this is not the first transition or even the first return to Virtus.pro. Ilyuk began his way at the club with the second line-up of the organization – Virtus.pro Polar. However, the roster very soon left the club and changed its name to ASUS.Polar… The team was doing much better than the main VP, so the management of the organization castled, as a result of which Polar turned into Virtus.pro. In 2015, Lil went with this team to The International and took 5-6 place there. However, after the tournament, Ilyuk was kicked, and the new VP roster, which collected Fng, frankly failed and spawned only an immortal meme about “friends”. Returned Lil to Virtus.pro already Alexey Solo Berezin, who was then entrusted with the creation of a new roster.
Lil spent a year and a half with this team, during which he managed to take 5-6 place at The International again, win several major tournaments, and also acquire the status of the “best” four “of the CIS. After TI7, Ilyuk somewhat lost his playing form, which subsequently led to the fact that the cyber sportsman left the roster and started a war on Twitter with former teammates and general manager of the team Roman Dvoryankin. Ilyuk never was able to return to the previous level in new bands, which Lil had replaced by a dozen in two years, although there were practically no questions about his individual performance.
How successful do you think Lil’s return to Virtus.pro will be, even if it is the second roster of the club?
