Those who are not afraid of catching a cold and being eaten alive can go to the mountain biome Valheimto acquire a companion wolf. To tame this predator, you will need dexterity and the ability to quickly disassemble your buildings. You should also stock up on the necessary potions of health, stamina and frost resistance.
The taming of wolves is a rather difficult task, as they often get into packs and aggro on the player from a long distance. Therefore, you should thoroughly prepare before hunting. There are two ways to tame wolves, let’s call them conditionally: “home” and “field”.
Taming the wolf in the field
Before making contact with an animal, it is necessary to dig a hole deep enough so that the predator cannot get out of it on its own, and then cover it with a wooden flooring. After that, you can go in search of a lone wolf or a small group of 2-3 individuals. You should carefully provoke one of the wolves to run after the character.
Further, luring him into the created trap, you need to run along the flooring to the far edge, and then disassemble it. The wolf will run along the same trajectory and fall into the hole. After that, it remains to feed the predator with raw meat until it becomes friendly to the player. It is worth noting that the animal does not always begin to feed immediately, so you need to move away so that the hole remains outside the drawing border. Once the wolf is tamed, you can build a walkway or bevel one of the pit walls so that the animal can get out.
“Home” method of taming wolves
The “home” method is not very different from the previous one, and is in many ways similar to the taming of wild boars. If the player’s dwelling is located near the habitats of gray predators, you can build an aviary with one unfinished section and a ladder on the opposite side. Further, one of the wolves is again lured out, and led into this corral. Having got out on the stairs from the opposite side, you need to quickly finish building the last part of the fence. After that, it remains only to fatten the animal.
If you build another aviary nearby and tame a second wolf, you can breed them over time. Having disassembled the wall between the pens, after a while the animals will begin to produce offspring. Breeding wolves will provide the player with skins for crafting, as well as faithful companions. A large flock can easily bite even a boss.
