Bees in Minecraft are an incredibly important part of the virtual ecosystem. In particular, they can create useful products like honeycombs that are an integral part of a variety of items. Finding honeycombs can be quite difficult and potentially dangerous if the player is not sufficiently prepared.
How to find honeycombs in Minecraft
Honeycombs can initially be obtained from hives – this is the aforementioned “tricky” part of the process. Hives are quite rare and spawn in only a few biomes with oak and birch trees. The probability of a hive spawning is expressed in the following percentages:
- Plains – 5%
- Flower forest – 2%
- Any other type of forest – 0.2%
A hive ready to harvest will have honey particles dripping from the bottom of the hive. Some of the textures on the block will be filled with golden liquid.
Tips for collecting honeycombs in Minecraft
If the hive has reached the required level, it can be knocked down in the usual way, having received several units of the resource. However, simple destruction will make the bees aggressive and attack the player. Instead, it is better to use scissors – this will make three honeycombs from the hive. This option will also anger the owners, so you should first light a fire under the hive, which will prevent the bees from leaving their home.
As an alternative and more effective collection, you should break the block with the hive with an ax, with the enchantment “Silk Touch” applied – this will keep the block when it is destroyed. The bees will stay inside and the harvesting level will be maintained. After that, the bees will continue to pollinate the hive, creating new combs.
Application of honeycomb in Minecraft
The honeycomb is the main ingredient for creating new hives. The recipe requires six wooden planks of any kind and three honeycombs. When creating a hive on a workbench, you need to place three honeycombs in the middle row, and in the rest of the cells of the board. Artificially created hives work in the same way as normal hives. Bees appear in them at night, during rain and after pollination of flowers.
Honeycomb is also the main ingredient in several cosmetic items like honeycomb block and candles.
