How God of War works with PS5 patch – performance test and video comparison

Tonight God of war got a free update 1.35which added 4K mode and 60 FPS for Playstation 5

Channel ElAnalistaDeBits I have already tested the project with the nextgen patch and recorded a video comparing the work of the game on the new console with PS4 and PS4 Pro. The main information from it is below

  • The update does not make the game a native PS5 port. It continues to run in backward compatibility mode;
  • The main functionality of the patch is to remove the 30fps limitation in the PS4 Pro upscaled mode, getting a constant 60fps on the PS5;
  • The same could have been achieved in the unpatched version 1.00, but there were some graphical errors and crashes;
  • Resolution remains the same as on PS4 Pro, 3840x2160p with checkerboard rendering;
  • The draw distance has improved. Previously, it was slightly inferior compared to PS4;
  • Saved game loading speed has been improved, while Fast Travel time remains the same as before the patch.

I also posted my video with the technical analysis of the patch VG TechThe game runs almost without drawdowns… The minimum FPS in the test was fixed at around 56 fps
