Happy birthday, Resolut1on! Five reasons to love Virtus.pro offlaner

September 2 player of the third position in the squad Virtus.pro by Dota 2 Roman Resolut1on Fomink turned 24 years old. Is this not a reason to remember why we all love so much the charismatic vice-champion of The International and just a good guy?

Started in esports from the bottom up

Resolut1on is one of those who found the era of “those very” computer clubs (before their renaissance in the mid-2010s). I got acquainted with Fominok’s games at the age of 10 and almost immediately started going to computer clubs in his hometown Nikopol, where he played with friends in CS, Heroes, Quake and Warcraft III.

At that time, Fominok was seriously fond of two games – the first Dota and StarCraft. Perhaps we could now see the confrontation between Resolut1on and Serral at WCS, but Roman still chose DotA, which he began to devote much more time to when he moved to Kiev with his family.

At the age of 14, Resolut1on first came to the now cult “Kiev Cybersport Arena”, where in those years one could often meet top doters. One of these was Andrey ALWAYSWANNAFLY Bondarenko – it was he who became the most important person in e-sports for Resolut1on for years to come.

Fly was one of the first to teach Resola the basics of professional Dota. Interestingly, Bondarenko was ready to become a kind of mentor for Fomin in the DotA world, if he would carry water to him during the games – Reso agreed and for two years regularly performed this function. As a result, they became friends and were inseparable for many years, and as part of Team empire went to the first for both The International.

I was not afraid to go to play abroad

In early 2016, Resolut1on decided that it was time to change something – and left to play abroad. Now we do not see anything special in the Ukrainian’s act, but at that time it was a very serious step. In the CIS, the cybersportsman has long established himself – any club would be happy to see him, but Reso decided not to look for easy ways. And the courageous act paid off in full.

Resolut1on joined the Digital Chaos team, and at first things were not going well for the team. The roster was losing to everyone in a row and at the end of March started a total reshuffle – everyone left the roster except Resolut1on. And it bore fruit (more on that later).

Now Reso plays in the CIS again, but already in the rank of a veteran (and this is at 24 years old!) And one of the most skilled cybersportsmen in the region. But in the footsteps of Resolut1on went overseas Roman RAMZEs Kushnarev, but he has yet to repeat the success of Fomink, which he achieved in 2016.

The last finalist of The International from the CIS

In March 2016, the Ukrainian’s partners in Digital Chaos became Alivi w33 Omar, David Moo Hull, Rasmus MISERY Philipsen and Martin Saksa Sazdov… Things began to improve for the team – it began to regularly win qualifiers, but on the LAN itself showed average results. However, Digital Chaos achieved the main goal: in the decisive match of qualification at The International, the team won Complexity Gaming and received an invite to the main tournament of the year, where she surprised everyone.

Until the start of The International 2016, no one dared to dream that Digital Chaos would be at least in the top three, but the international mix put all the skeptics to shame and confidently reached the grand final. But the team could not achieve more – Wings were divinely good back then. Resolut1ion is still the last of the CIS who managed to reach the final of the main Dota championship.

Was not afraid to change roles for the sake of the team

In the fall of 2019, Resolut1on decided it was time to go home. The player was doing well in J.Storm from Clinton Fear Loomiz, but at some point Resolut1on received an offer from Virtus.pro, and he realized that it would be a mistake to refuse it.

However, the tempting offer could not be called ideal: the point is that Resolut1on played in the first and second positions throughout his career, and Virtus.pro needed an offlaneer. But for Fomink it was not a problem, but a new challenge.

Resolut1on is a greedy player who loves to farm. In the new position, the cybersportsman was required to radically change his approach to Dota, and this is very difficult. As Fominok admitted, in six months he managed to rebuild his vision of the game, although he still does not feel so comfortable in third position – but continues to work on himself, which cannot but inspire respect.

Always stays positive

Perhaps it is difficult to name a more open and positive doter in the CIS than Resolut1on. He is not afraid to speak up if he has any problems in the game, but at the same time you will not find criticism of opponents, teammates or anyone else from him in any interviews. It seems to be the most positive (after Dendi) esportsman in the CIS. We hope it will remain so.
