The picture depicts the Executioner of Doom, holding his faithful blade Crucible ready and looking at the spire of the infernal citadel rushing up. The entire picture, in its entirety, from the executioner Rock pose to the overall composition, quotes a cult episode from Final Fantasy VII, where Cloud prepares to storm one of the Mako reactors at the very beginning of his adventure. The same scene became the basis for the box art of the classic version of the Japanese role-playing game, and later reappeared on the cover of the remake.
