Hackers hacked Apex Legends to save Titanfall from hackers

At the end of the week, the studio scandal Respawn and the game Titanfall reached a whole new level. The fact is that hackers sabotaged the servers of a popular competitive shooter Apex legends

The background is as follows. More than three years PC version Titanfall simply unworkable – players simply cannot log in due to the activity of the army of bots. The reason lies in the activity of one hacker under the nickname John Yu (or a group of hackers, no one knows for sure) who found vulnerabilities in the matchmaking system Stryder

However, the leadership EA ignored the problem. So, in November 2023, Titanfall began to sell not only in Originbut also in Steam (in Russia they ask for about a thousand rubles). The shooter has negative reviews, because no one can launch it (only a request for a refund saves).

Moreover, the gaps in Stryder’s work are also relevant for Titanfall 2, and the matter is not limited to the PC version only. In recent months, John Yu and / or his followers have deliberately sabotaged matches with streamers, and Respawn has tried to fend off angry comments with empty promises to fix the situation.

Apex Legends is no better. It has already gotten to the point that hackers manage to disrupt eSports tournaments. Again, Respawn doesn’t do anything. The conflict began to gain momentum after the start of the seventh season. “Revival” in Apex Legends. Due to the influx of players, the Respawn servers were not working correctly for several weeks.

And now a group of caring hackers has stepped in to draw attention to the Titanfall problem in an unconventional way. They hacked Apex Legends

On July 4th, players started complaining about problems. They cannot play any of the standard modes, instead of which there are banners with a link to the site SaveTitanfall.com.

The creators of the SaveTitanfall.com portal stated that they had nothing to do with the attack, and the hackers themselves confirmed this. The site is an attempt to draw attention to the dire state of Titanfall for EA and Respawn, and the initiative is dubbed “Operation Red Tape “.

Activists are outraged that EA is selling a broken product, and Respawn representatives stop responding to users as soon as they start asking about Titanfall.

Press Services EA and Respawn still have not commented on the incident. However, the hacker attack continues to expand. According to the latest data, problems have arisen for players on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, PS4, PS5. Perhaps the Nintendo Switch version also has problems, since Apex Legends supports crossplay.

According to users, the hack did not affect the operation of EA’s servers – only playlists. For some, restarting or going to the start screen helps. However, this does not guarantee a solution to the problem.

It is possible that the incident is limited in time. On July 4, the United States celebrates Independence Day, and most of the country’s population sits at home. Therefore, the attack received a powerful PR effect.
