Google creates its analogue of 3D Touch for Pixel smartphones – review

In my time Apple promoted the system 3D touch as a revolutionary way of interacting with a smartphone, because depending on the strength of pressing the touch screen, different functions could work. However, for a number of reasons, it turned out to be unclaimed, so Cupertino did not refuse. But in Google decided to copy it, and in an unusual way.

If the “apple” version relied only on hardware solutions, then in Mountain View they plan to bet on software. Their 3D Touch version will be implemented programmatically on Pixel smartphones.

The idea is that the stronger the finger presses on the screen, the larger the area of contact. This parameter will be read. And for the analysis, artificial intelligence will be used, allowing you to recognize certain actions.

So far, this technology is being tested by developers, but in the coming weeks it will appear on all Pixel smartphones. First, it will be supported by the launcher, photo viewer and Google Drive cloud storage. Then other applications will gain access. The appearance of new items on smartphones from other manufacturers is not reported.
