According to media reports, on the first day of the Chinese rental Godzilla vs. Kong earned $ 18.2 million.
The final result for this period should be even higher, but so far the film is slightly behind in fees from “King of the Monsters” – $ 20.9 million. Reviews of the film, however, are good, and it is expected that the film will gross about $ 166 million at the local box office.
In Russia, the film has already managed to collect almost 152 million rubles in the same time frame, and the film itself easily bypassed the rest of the box office competitors by a significant margin. The situation may be slightly different in the United States, since the project will appear there on March 31, immediately in the cinema and on HBO Max.
Earlier, analysts predicted that the fresh blockbuster would be the largest premiere of the pandemic at the international box office – this forecast, apparently, may well turn out to be true.
