Company Sony presented a new edition of the program today State of play, during which I first introduced players to the user interface Playstation 5 and talked about some of the features of the operating system.
One of the new features is the control center. It opens with a press of the PlayStation button and gives you instant access to any system function without leaving your game. For example, you can check the list of friends currently online, view the download status, configure the controller, and so on.
The main part of the control center has become cards, with which you can interact in different ways with the game and the system. They display the latest news from subscriptions to publishers’ feeds, give access to saved content, and show game events.
For example, in the platformer Sackboy: A Big Adventure levels are fixed on the event cards: you can quickly switch between them and track the statistics of the passage of stages, including finding out which tasks have not yet been completed and how much time is left to complete the level. In addition to this, users with an active subscription PlayStation Plus will have access to help for performing certain tests… In this case, they will be able to open the task and get a hint in the form of a video by displaying it on the left side of the screen or in the “picture in picture” mode.
Another innovation of the system is interactive notifications. For example, upon receiving a voice chat invitation, a player can press the PlayStation button on the controller to access a quick notification menu where they can join a conversation or get group information.
Together with this, the functions of the Tusovka were expanded. Now users will be able to communicate during the game and follow each other’s progress in a separate window, which can be opened in picture-in-picture mode or pinned to the side of the screen.
From the control center, you can also quickly join friends in online games. This opportunity was shown by example Destruction: AllStars… It also demonstrated the process of creating a screenshot using the Create button. You can save screenshots and videos on the PlayStation 5 in resolutions up to 4K.
The home screen is completely new. According to Sony, its design has been made so that players always have convenient and quick access to all functions. In addition, games and media applications will now have their own separate menus. They switch at the top of the screen.
On the home screen, each game has a fully integrated hub. Scrolling down will give users access to event cards, news and more, with some of these features even supported by backward compatible PS4 games.
An important update to the PlayStation 5 system was also the fact that now PS Store fully integrated into it and is no longer a standalone application… This will make finding new games much more convenient, and the store itself will display both PS5 games and backward compatible PS4 titles.

Sony notes that today’s review of the interface has not yet covered all of its functions. At the same time, the video was recorded at the stage of the creation of the console, so there may be minor changes in the system before the PlayStation 5 goes on sale.
The PS5 will launch on November 19th.
