This week studio Blue box game announced Abandoned, first person shooter, cinematic horror and survival simulator at the same time.
The game was announced on the PlayStation blog as a PS5 exclusive, so it immediately attracted a lot of attention. The authors even had to refute rumors of cooperation with Hideo Kojima.
Shortly after the announcement, Abandoned Development Lead Hassan Kahraman in an interview with the Dutch edition Gamer.nl shared new details of the game. Kahraman spoke about other features of the horror in an interview IGN…
- Abandoned has been in development since 2017 on the engine Unreal Engine 4…
- The authors want to make a realistic and unconventional shooter with an emphasis on tactics, where players are careful about each fight.
- Realism lies in full-fledged reload animations, the need to stop bleeding, the absence of an interface, and so on.
- On hitting the leg, the protagonist will fall and drop the weapon. The wound will have to be cleaned if the player wants to avoid infection.
- You need to eat and drink to survive. Food can be obtained by hunting wild animals or exploring locations. You can get sick from drinking dirty water or old food.
- Realistic environment is done using photogeometry and retopology.
- PS5 will be able to support 4K at 60 FPS, but the authors are still working on optimizations.
- Support for DualSense, which was talked about at the release, includes a different feeling of loaded and unloaded weapons.
- 3D sound will allow you to determine the distance to the enemy.
- Kahraman doesn’t like comparisons with Resident evil… In his opinion, these are two completely different games, although there are elements of horror in Abandoned. For example, religious sects constantly hunt for the main character.
- To convince players that the featured footage of Abandoned is not cinematic, the authors plan to release a demo after full gameplay has been shown.
- Full gameplay is likely to be shown on E3 2023 (this year it will be digital).
The release of Abandoned will take place in the fourth quarter of this year on PlayStation 5 only.
