Former developers of StarCraft 2 and Diablo are working on their own RTS for PC

Lead Game Designer David Kim (StarCraft 2, Diablo IV, World of Warcraft) founded the studio Uncapped Games… The first game from Uncapped Games will be a real-time strategy game for the PC.

In an interview GamesIndustry.biz Kim revealed that he has long wanted to do a new RTS.

“I was approached by different people, I talked to different companies, but these were the ones that seemed to me the opportunity of my whole life. If we were going to do the next great RTS, I knew we needed the right company, the right people on the team, and clearly aligned beliefs about what we were trying to do. ”- David Kim.

The right company turned out to be Lightspeed and Quantum Studios, a subsidiary of a Chinese conglomerate Tencentwho supported Kim in his endeavors and helped him find the right people. These are Lead Producer Jason Hughes (Diablo III & IV) and Software Engineer Zhongshan Zhang (StarCraft 2).

Uncapped Games intends to create the most action-packed RTS PC game with a low barrier to entry, but impossible to master. The developers want to release an early version of the game as soon as possible in order to redo it based on feedback.

“We want to modernize a lot and make it so that any gamer can play this game. And to play competitively, you don’t have to practice for ten years. You have to be good at strategy or oppose what you see on the opponent’s side. We want to make a real strategy game, not one in which the best player is the one who can click the fastest. ”- David Kim.

Uncapped Games is located in Los Angeles. So far, the team consists of 8 people, but by the end of the year the studio plans to expand to 20 employees. Further growth depends on new goals.
