Experimental action a few days ago Returnal from a Finnish studio Housemarque went on sale. Representatives of the press, like ordinary users, greeted the new product mostly positively, but it was not without criticism. In particular, many express dissatisfaction with the system for maintaining progress implemented in the project.
For context: game loop Returnal consists of a series of challenging and skillful level sequences. In the event of death, it is almost always necessary to start over. The problem, at least for some gamers, in this system is the almost complete absence of “intermediate“saving. In other words, starting the next”race“in the new project Housemarque, you need to finish it in one go, because if you turn off the game, then all the accumulated progress will be reset to zero.
As an alternative to this solution, some players use the “sleep” on the Playstation 5 provided they need to get away from Returnal midway through. However, since this approach can hardly be called optimal, Housemarque has received many requests to revise the save system in the game and make appropriate adjustments to it through the release of a special patch.
Soon team Housemarque responded to complaints. The developers did not promise anything concrete, only noting that they carefully listen to all the feedback from the players.
