Square Enix released an updated version in 2019 Final Fantasy VIII… Unfortunately, the remaster did not receive any major graphical improvements over the original version, which clearly disappointed many fans. But what would a completely revamped reissue look like?
Apparently, a CG graphic artist asked the same question some time ago. Yasin Safak, who posted screenshots of Dr.Kadovaki’s infirmary from FFVIII that he recreated. Using the example of his work, he showed what a real remake of a classic jRPG can be if you add photorealistic graphics…
Note that these are just renders of background scenes and nothing more. This is not a mod for FFVIII, but the images can give an idea of what a modern version of Final Fantasy VIII might hypothetically look like using the same fixed cameras.
