According to preliminary data published by the company CD Projekt, international sales Cyberpunk 2077 crossed the 13 million mark as of December 20, that is, ten days from the date of release. This makes it the fastest selling game in 2023. Released in March Animal Crossing: New Horizons for Nintendo Switch found about 12 million buyers in the first 11 days.
In an address to investors, CD Projekt stressed that 13+ million is the approximate retail and digital sales recorded as of December 20, taking into account the returns.… That is, the copies for which people have already returned money, when compiling the report, they were not summed up with regular sales… The number of those who completed the refund is not specified. Prior to release, the game has collected 8 million pre-orders.
Initially, CD Projekt did not intend to disclose the sales of the game until 2023, but eventually revised its strategy, as this data could affect the plans of investors. Since August, the company’s share price has dropped 40%.
